Wing - BRIDGE OF LIFE

WING sponsors a radio drama series “Bridge of Life” on the Equal Access network, airing in 16 provinces across Cambodia. This series features a group of family and friends facing real-life challenges and dramas. In the course of their lives, they are presented with choices about how to manage their money. After the program, listeners can phone, text or write to the radio station about these choices and how they reflect their own lives. Equal Access also organises discussion groups, where young Cambodians gather to listen to the show together and share their thoughts about the issues raised.
One example of the show is the story of a character named Chenda. Chenda is a young garment worker who wants to leave her job and start her own business. The program takes the listener through the steps she takes to get the business going. In one episode, she was presented with the choice of approaching a Microfinance Institute, or continuing her work and building up more savings before starting her business. She discussed the pros and cons with her family and friends, and eventually decided to use WING to put aside a little money every month to help her business get started.
Every week people call the station saying they recognise themselves in the drama.
